This course is for all those involved with leading the delivery of childcare in a residential setting. This course has helped leaders and managers develop the knowledge to begin quality delivery of care, effective demonstration of understanding of the Regulations during Ofsted's fit person interview (FPI), as well as sustaining ongoing good practices in their settings. 

This course focuses beyond the Quality Standards, delving into the guidance and governance for residential childcare (Regulations, Guide to the Regulations, and SCCIF). It will also provide helpful tips and strategies to ensure you remain on the right side of compliance.

The Quality Standards systematically describe outcomes to be achieved for each child, and with this course, you will not only understand these standards, but how to adopt and apply them in your daily delivery of care.

Autism goes far deeper than ‘autistic traits’, ADHD goes far deeper than ‘attention seeking’, and the list of misconceptions goes on. This course is invaluable for the delivery of high-quality care to children diagnosed or not. 

This course takes each subject area – Autism, ADHD & Executive Function – examining and expanding on it to aid thorough absorption and application of the material. You will learn to identify the different types and their symptoms, the importance of the link between these three, and how to adopt this in providing person-centred-care.

Exploitation is a pandemic itself and carers need to be very cognizant of the signs of exploitation and how to effectively manage any form of exploitation. Within this course, exploitation is explored in 4 areas - sexual exploitation, criminal exploitation, county lines and modern slavery. 

This course delves into the dangers our young people face, how they get trapped in the cycle of exploitation, and how best to support them.

Missing is a reoccurring theme with our vulnerable young people, and managing this effectively can increase the likelihood of reducing the risk of going missing. 

This course not only explores the actions to take when a young person is missing, but details some proactive and reactive strategies that could be implemented to reduce missing episodes. This course also highlights at the procedures and best practices which your setting needs to follow when dealing with missing episodes.

“Safeguarding is paramount – more important than anything else!”©  That is our approach to this course. Each carer and team around the child needs to understand their roles and responsibilities for protecting and promoting the welfare of children and young people. 

This course will augment your professional development in equipping you to be able to identify children who are experiencing abuse or at risk of abuse, how to keep young people safe (pre, during and post abuse), as well as grow in your Professional Curiosity and observations skills.

Did you know that recording and reporting are similar, but not the same thing? Learning the difference between these, combined with learning the best principles to adhere to when recording and reporting, will improve the quality of your reports and records. 

This course will clearly highlight the various issues of written communication while introducing you to the set of skills that will enable you to do this well. A good written work demonstrates good practices, ensures written communication is not misinterpreted, and could equally impact the image of your organisation when exchanging with external professionals.

Safeguarding the individual is key to increasing the success of a child, however, what about the context of each potential/actual abuse? It is a given that the different relationships young people form in their neighbourhoods, schools, and online can feature violence and abuse, this is why our contextual safeguarding course teaches you how to approach, to understand and to respond to children and young people's experiences of significant harm beyond their families. 

This course will teach you what contextual safeguarding is, it’s history, best practices and most crucially, how it works in your setting.

Within the children’s setting, there are a number of methods to audit compliance against expected children’s homes regulations and its associated frameworks and guidance. As a leader or a provider, do you fully understand the expectations in these various forms. 

This course will go through what to expect from and how to fully utilise Annex A, Independent Visits (Reg 44), Review of Quality of Care (Reg 45), Monthly Manager Audits, Responsible Individual Audits, as well as sharing template ideas for your setting.

Children’s settings are full of stressors, and this course is designed for people who wish to develop a greater understanding of the nature, causes, symptoms and techniques for managing stress, at a personal and workplace level. 

We will identify what stress is, consider the risks of stress, discuss, and adopt management of stress techniques, look at self-care, self-help, and personal support networks, and discuss the wider support available.
